OUR WHY
Having grown up in broken families, we understand firsthand the challenges that come with it. However, we also experienced the power of God's restoring hand in the details and a supportive community that stepped in to help—we needed that. In Misungwi, Tanzania, the need is no different. Families require a strong support system to create opportunities that once seemed impossible. We see God's heart for these people, which is a huge motivation for us. We believe in every single person; if you have breath, you have purpose. We are thrilled about the growing and dedicated team that has been built here! Together, we will reunite children with their families, establish sustainable businesses, and help restore futures.

As of 2025, SOZO has established temporary housing for both boys and girls, launched the reunification process, and provided seven business loans. In that process, Sozo Ice Cream was launched to empower families within this community. Children now live in a family-style setting rather than dormitories, fostering a sense of belonging and stability. We are actively engaging with their parents and family members to understand their needs and provide the necessary support to strengthen and restore their role as caregivers. Additionally, repayments on the business loans have already begun, reinforcing our commitment to sustainability, dignity, and economic empowerment.
